Toothless

WARNING!! IF BLOOD MAKES YOU SQUIMISH THEN DON'T READ THIS POST!

Haley made a trip to the Oral Surgeon today to have a few teeth pulled. They were baby teeth that hadn't fallen out yet. They had to cut up into her gums and expose the adult teeth that were real high up in there and all crooked. That's why they hadn't come in yet and probably wouldn't have on their own. The Dr. attached little brackets with tiny wires and chains on them that the Orthodontist is going to hook into her braces and gradually pull them down.

She did great for the surgery. It was funny and sad watching her come out of the anesthesia. Hopefully this will be the only time we'll see the drunk Haley. Once we got her home and into bed (which wasn't easy considering she could hardly walk) she got real emotional. It broke our hearts watching her cry and not being able to do anything for her. We kept asking her if anything hurt, or if she was uncomfortable and all she would say is "I don't know".

Fortunately once she fully woke up she was fine. She's had hardly any pain, just a little soreness and she doesn't remember much about the whole experience. She even went to school the next day to take a couple of tests that she didn't want to miss. What a good kid!

Someday soon this will all be worth it and she will have beautiful teeth.

She got the teeth as a souvenier.

Some of Haley's friends left her a get well surprise. I think the hearts were meant for the lawn but we just seeded and had it taped off. So the front porch got heart-attacked.
